The head of the Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau, Karen Ronan, has been announced as the Vice President of Network Ireland, an organisation supporting the professional and personal development of women, for 2025.

Ms Ronan was elected to the position at the Network Ireland AGM which took place on Saturday, January 11, which gave members a chance to come together and elect the group’s National Executive Committee for the year ahead, as well as appointed both the National President and Vice President.

The role will see The Shannon Bureau General Manager support the newly elected National President, Amy O’Sullivan, in guiding Network Ireland for 2025.

“I was absolutely thrilled to be voted in as Vice President of Network Ireland to support our incredible national President Amy O’Sullivan in 2025,” said Karen Ronan in an announcement on LinkedIn, adding, “I look forward to meeting all the branches during the year and working with our board and national executive to achieve all of Amy’s amazing plans for the Network.”

The Limerick branch of Network Ireland elected Karen Ronan as President for 2023 which saw Karen bring her extensive background in business and sports tourism to the role, which will now serve to benefit the national group.  

A native of Limerick and a graduate of the Kemmy School of Business in University of Limerick, Karen has more than 25 years’ experience in the Tourism industry in Ireland and internationally.  

Having worked in Bord Failte, New York and hotels in sales and marketing roles, Karen moved to the newly formed Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau in 2003 and for more than two decades, has successfully delivered business in the conference, corporate and sports sector for the Shannon region.

Sharing their support for Karen, Network Ireland Limerick posted to Instagram, saying, “Congratulations to our very own Limerick lady Karen Ronan who was elected Vice President of Network Ireland at the annual AGM at the weekend.

“Karen’s impressive pitch meant she was awarded the coveted role of VicePresident to support this year’s National President Amy O’Sullivan. We are so proud of you Karen and wish you all the very best in your role.”

Network Ireland is a progressive, dynamic organisation supporting the professional and personal development of women. The group’s membership is made up of a very diverse group of women, from budding entrepreneurs, SME owners, professionals and leaders in indigenous and multinational organisations to non profits, charities, arts and the public sector.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online.
