At a recent event in Dublin, Cliona’s Foundation was delighted to meet up with the other fantastic charities that have received support from the Keith Duffy Foundation over the past few years.

“We were introduced to Keith Duffy a few years ago by Richard Lynch,” said Brendan Ring, founder of Cliona’s Foundation. “He was so touched by our story and the support we provide to families of children with a life-limiting condition that he selected Cliona’s Foundation as a beneficiary of the Sparkle & Shine Ball in April 2016. He subsequently cycled with us across France to Lourdes in June of that year and he has become a great personal friend and a wonderful supporter of Cliona’s Foundation.”

In 2017, the annual events raised €80,000 which was donated to the 3 charities to help continue their vital work in the fields of sight loss, autism and intellectual disability respectively. “He has does amazing work for a number of charities in a very quiet and unassuming manner on top of a very busy touring schedule with Boyzlife overseas. He is a very special person and we are extremely lucky and blessed to have him as one of our loyal supporters.”

During the period of 2016 – 2017 Keith Duffy Foundation donated a total of €45,000 to Cliona’s Foundation – which helped 30 families during this time. “All of these families were struggling with the mounting non-medical costs associated with caring for their sick child on top of the trauma of their child’s condition,” said Brendan. “The financial assistance we were able to provide as a result of Keith’s support helped alleviate some of the pressure for a period of time and we know from the thank you cards and letters received that it had a huge impact.”

The Keith Duffy Foundation was established in December 2015 to provide support and financial assistance to various children’s charities throughout Ireland. To date, the Foundation has donated €185,000 to Irish charities including Fighting Blindness, As I Am and The Blue Diamond Acting Academy. Its main annual fundraisers are the Keith Duffy Christmas Ball and the Keith Duffy Charity Golf Day.

Cliona’s Foundation provides financial support to families of children with a life-limiting condition to help with the non-medical costs of caring for their child. These costs can include accommodation, transport, car parking, childcare costs and specialist equipment. They are the only Charity providing this type of support, without any state funding and has supported 500 families across 29 counties over the past 11 years. 101 of these families were supported in 2017 and they are currently receiving applications at the rate of 2/3 per week.
