Limerick singer-songwriter Kellie Lewis releases new song ‘102’ an emotionally charged track dedicated to Dolores O’Riordan
Dedicated to Dolores O’Riordan, lead singer of The Cranberries and Kellie Lewis’ mentor on The Voice of Ireland, 102 strikes a delicate balance between personal reflection and universal appeal.
From the very first note, 102 immerses the listener in Kellie Lewis’ raw emotions, carried by her rich, unmistakably Irish vocals. There’s a palpable sense of longing and admiration woven into every note, capturing the profound impact Dolores O’Riordan had on Kellie Lewis’ life.
Kellie Lewis’ new song 102 is an emotionally charged tribute that beautifully captures the essence of love, loss and legacy. With Dolores O’Riordan’s passing six years ago, Kellie Lewis channelled her emotions into writing 102, a deeply personal song that honours her mentor’s memory. This song is not just a tribute – it’s a reflection of admiration, inspiration, and the lasting impact of an unforgettable friendship.
Speaking about 102, Kelliw said, “I auditioned for The Voice of Ireland just to get the chance to meet Dolores O’Riordan. My whole world changed when I sang Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush at the Blind audition and Dolores turned around. She believed in me and I miss her everyday.”
The multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter explained she had tried to write many songs to honour her idol, but said, “It took some time to compose the perfect tribute.”
Lewis said, “I feel grateful that I ever had the chance to experience Dolores’ magic here on earth. She was incredibly kind and funny and talented beyond belief. A true rock star, I was honoured to ever share space with her. Everything I feel is in 102; it spilled out of my heart and into this song. Writing it was healing, making it was healing, listening to it was healing.”
