Limerick songwriter Kellie Lewis reaches top ten of Le Crunch Apple of My Eye Song Contest
Limerick songwriter Kellie Lewis has reached the top ten of Le Crunch Apple of My Eye, a competitive national song competition. You can vote for Kellie up until March 2, on Joe.ie.
From Kilbehenny, Kellie Lewis is one of ten Le Crunch Apple of My Eye competitors, with The 5 finalists will performing their cover songs live to a full house. The winner of the night will walk away from the competition with €2,000 and the four runners-up will receive €125 and be crowned the 2016 winner.
Before being pared down to the remaining top ten, the competition had been running online for several weeks, with hundreds of national entries. Kellie Lewis is Limerick’s one and only representative in the top ten.
Limerick songwriter Kellie Lewis is a well-known contestant on RTE’s The Voice. She wrote and recorded alongside Dolores O’Riordan from the Cranberries, entered her own rendition of Lean On by Major Lazer and DJ Snake, which has been favoured by Le Crunch and Joe.ie.
The ten semi-finalists, including Kellie Lewis, will be recording videos for their tracks with Joe.ie. The public will then be asked to vote for their favourite on the website. Five of the entries will be going through to the national final on March 9, at Whelan’s in Dublin.
The panel of industry judges will include Shane Dunne, founder of Indiependence music festival and the UL graduate, Paddy McKenna, of RTE and lead singer of HamsandwicH, Niamh Farrell.
Paddy McKenna commented on the competition as, “a great opportunity for budding Limerick artists to have their talents showcased to a huge audience and also have their song checked out by some influential people from the Irish music industry.”
