Crafters from across Limerick and the Doon community are invited to take part in a 24-hour craftathon for Samaritans this Saturday, August 8, with Knit and Natter

Crafters from across Limerick and the Doon community are invited to take part in a 24-hour craftathon for Samaritans this Saturday, August 8, with Knit and Natter
Organised by Norah Collins for the second consecutive year, participants can join for as little as an hour, with all types of crafts welcome.

For the second year running, the craft community in Doon are coming together and invites people from all over to join them for a 24-hour craftathon in aid of Samaritans.

The Craftathon takes place on Saturday, August 8 at the Pastoral Centre in Doon, with crafting getting underway from 1 pm and rolling into 1 pm on Sunday, August 9.

Organised by Norah Collins for the second consecutive year, participants can join for as little as an hour, with all types of crafts welcome.

On her fundraising page, Norah said, “Along with my Knit & Natter Group, I’m taking part in a 24-Hour Craft Challenge on the 8th & 9th August next to support the Samaritans, a charity close to all our hearts that offers a lifeline to people in crisis, 24/7.

“This cause matters deeply to me – and I’d be so grateful if you could be part of it. All funds raised here will support Samaritans’ lifesaving work in Ireland & Northern Ireland, and their mission of fewer lives lost to suicide.”

The Samaritans were established in Ireland in 1961 and have 25 branches across Ireland, providing a vital lifeline, answering a call for help every minute.

The Samaritans are not only for moments of crisis but take action to prevent the crisis. The pandemic has challenged us all and has had a significant impact on people’s mental health, and may continue to have an impact on people’s lives in the years and months to come, and the Samaritans want people to know that they are there 24/7 to help people through whatever issues they are facing.
