In the past 18 months, continual development work has been taking place at the Knockaderry GAA grounds as the club aims to bring their vision of its development project to fruition.

A fundraising spokesperson said, “The vision of our development project is to ensure that our community has the finest sporting and recreation facilities at the disposal of our members and the wider community to enjoy, where each can be physically active for the duration of their lives.”

Work is well underway with Phase One of the project complete. including construction of a 70-metre hurling wall with artificial playing surface including one-wall GAA handball practice court; and realignment and enhancement of the club’s main pitch playing surface to become a more durable, sand-based natural surface. Phase One came to a cost of €280,000

The spokesperson saying on the iDonate fundraising page, “In order to realise the ambitions of our club we need your support, and we ask that you join in helping us secure the sporting and recreational future of our community. The Oskars fundraiser will involve 100 actors and actresses from Knockaderry/Clouncagh and the surrounding area. Filming will take place in the locality, recreating scenes from eight mega movies such as The Wind that Shakes the Barley, The Snapper, The Field, Derry Girls among others!”

The filming will culminate in a special movie premiere at Charleville Park Hotel on Saturday, November 16, 2024, when the Knockaderry GAA & Camogie Oskars project will be screened in front of a capacity attendance of 800 people.
