‘Lately’ sees Dylan Flynn & The Dead Poets once again blending Indie-Rock sounds with Americana songwriting, but this time around, they are leaning further into the Folk-Rock world.
The Limerick group are aiming for pure communication – surging Indie-Rock that comes with a pop openness, their widescreen yet down-to-earth musicality has a viral appeal, yet remains DIY in origin.
2024 saw the band self-produce and release their new album and take on their biggest shows to date – selling-out rooms across the UK & Ireland. 1,000,000 streams later, support slots with the likes of NewDad, The Darkness & Kingfishr, and a recent appearance at SXSW in Austin, has shown that these lads are one’s to watch for 2025.

The song’s melancholic lyrics discuss the difficulties of navigating through life, defining whats right & wrong, and wondering if anything you do makes a difference. The track is filled with jangly guitars, sax solos, and pumping drums – reminiscent of late 70s Heartland Rock, such as Tom Petty, but with a sprinkle of The War On Drugs.
Flynn says, “This song ended up being the first track I wrote after finishing our last album. It was one that crept up on me slowly, working on it bit by bit. I remember on our last tour, I used to play it in soundcheck. It’s been through a few changes and re-works, but I love what we landed on.”
The track was recorded and self-produced in the band’s small home studio in Limerick City, with long-term collaborator Mike Gavin (Windings). Mike co-produced and mixed the track, while Richard Dowling (Foo Fighters, Brian Eno, Villagers) mastered it.
Over the last few months, the band have garnered a hype around them that is hard to ignore. Tracks from their latest album saw them land spins on BBC ATL, Radio X, RTE 2FM and Today FM, while also being featured on the cover of two Spotify playlists, Alternative Ireland & Fresh Finds UK & IE. Their music has appeared in blogs such as Clash Magazine, The Thin Air, Hot Press, The Last Mixed Tape, and a phenomenal Electric Arena set at Electric Picnic Festival last year, showing that they can put on a show. The band closed out 2024 with a UK and Ireland tour, where they sold out dates in London, Manchester, Limerick and Galway.
This year, the band announced their biggest tour to date which will see them play venues in Ireland and UK with shows already sold out.
