Limerick City and County Council has announced that Laura Ryan has been appointed as its new Head of Communications and Marketing.
Ms. Laura Ryan will be responsible for developing and implementing a Communications and Marketing strategy for Limerick and leading a team dedicated to putting Limerick’s reputation, achievements and long-term future at its heart.
She will be responsible for Corporate Communications and developing and promoting the Limerick brand to visitors, ranging from tourists to international investors, through dynamic ongoing campaigns across traditional and new media. In doing so, Ms. Ryan will work closely with the other key stakeholders in Limerick and the region.
Announcing the appointment, Limerick City and County Council Chief Executive, Conn Murray, said this new role will further develop a strategic and integrated approach to engaging Limerick’s many audiences.
“This is a key role which will bring together the Council and its strategic partners to ensure that there is a co-ordinated approach to developing a positive brand that is clearly identifiable and connected with Limerick,” he said. “A key ambition of Limerick 2030, our economic and spatial plan for Limerick, is the need to ensure consistency of messaging so we’re delighted that Laura will lead our strategy that projects our ambition of where Limerick needs to be.”
The office of Communications and Marketing will become a new Business Unit of the Council under the direction of Dr. Pat Daly and replace the former Limerick Marketing Company.
Ms. Laura Ryan is the former Communications Officer at Limerick City and County Council and previously managed the Limerick Communications Office. Prior to these roles she worked as a journalist in both local and national media and was Legal Correspondent for TV3 News.
Originally from Dooradoyle, Limerick, Laura holds a Masters Degree in Journalism from NUI Galway and a Degree in European Studies (Public Affairs) from the University of Limerick.
