Another major occasion on the Limerick College of Further Education events calendar was marked at the opening of the College’s 18th Annual Photography Exhibition at the Absolute Hotel Limerick, on Thursday, May 31.
Bernadette Enright, Centre Manager, Hospitality Education and Training Centre, Limerick officially opened the show, which celebrates the work of the 1st & 2nd Year photography learners who get a chance to exhibit a selection of their work, saying she was “honoured to officially open the exhibition.”
As in previous years, the photography exhibition will run at the Absolute Hotel for the entire year. Members of the public interested in purchasing any of the works can do so by contacting the relevant learners directly. Previous LCFE photography exhibitions at the venue have always been highly successful.
Commenting on the LCFE Annual Photography Showcase 2018, Eoin McCarthy, LCFE Photography Department, said, “Staging an exhibition like this requires a huge commitment on the part of the learners and the teaching staff at the College. We are really looking forward to giving members of the public an all year opportunity to view the calibre of work produced by the photographic learners, who only began to study photography full time this past September.”
Limerick College of Further Education is currently accepting enrolments for courses commencing September 2018. The Photography Department at LCFE currently runs two, 1-year, full-time programmes. Learners who successfully complete the programmes receive QQI/FETAC Level 5 and Level 6 awards in Photography. At the end of the 2nd year, learners also receive a Higher Professional Diploma in Photography. Both programmes are designed to enable learners to develop an understanding of the variety of roles and skills undertaken throughout the photographic industry.
