Guests of honor at the LCFE Graduation 2017 were Mr George O’Callaghan, Chief Executive of Limerick and Clare ETB and Senator Maria Byrne as well as members of the Board of Management of LCFE.

The Limerick College of Further Education, which has been in existence for 56 years, has provided the highest quality education and training to the people of the Mid-West Region.  It is one of the largest Colleges of its kind in Ireland, with annual total enrolments of about 4,300 learners.

Mr George O’Callaghan congratulated the graduates and commended them “as having achieved a well-recognized qualification that acknowledges them as having achieved a level of excellence in their chosen area” and stating that “Their award is a passport to the world of work and life.”  He further acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the staff of LCFE.

This message was further reiterated by Senator Maria Byrne in her motivating address saying: “Having served on the Governing body of LCFE, I am aware first hand of the standard of education delivered by LCFE and the high calibre of its graduates.  LCFE provides tailored courses that ensure its graduates can go and pursue their areas of interest further in the third level or get a job in their field.”

“The tailored courses, that LCFE provides means that graduates have the skills needed to meet the needs of the employer.”  She congratulated the graduates and wished them luck in their chosen future paths.

Remaining continuously open to new experiences and information, and stay attuned to your inner voice were central themes of this year’s address to graduates at the LCFE Graduation 2017 by LCFE Principal, Pat Maunsell. He said: “We live in a fast-paced, global environment today and no doubt the future will present challenges for you as it does for us all.”

“I advise you to continue your education and up-skill when required to prepare you for the many career shifts you may encounter over your working lives.  As you know well, education is a lifelong process and does not end today.  There are so many opportunities today to continue your education – choose one which best suits your circumstances.”

The Further Education and Training landscape has greatly changed in recent times with the establishment of the ETB’s, SOLAS and the QQI and other related developments. LCFE is expanding and responding to these changes and to the needs of the market.

Further Education is now a real, valid and valued option for students considering their future and LCFE is the College to consider in the Mid-West region
