Leading Irish designers come together to offer design services to businesses for AWARE
Leading Irish designers and business leaders joined together at Engine Limerick on Thursday 30th August to launch the annual ‘Mind Over Matter’ fundraising event for Aware. This innovative initiative enables businesses of all sizes to consult with the best of Irish design talent for a minimal fee on October 10th, National Day of Creativity, with all proceeds going to AWARE.
Gillian Barry, Head of Innovation and Enterprise in LIT was MC with a panel of business leaders and design experts included Darren Smyth – Head of Commercial Shannon Group, Vicki O’Toole CEO of JJ’OTooles packaging and Louise Lawlor MD Blink Design.
Darren Smyth said “Collectively, we have a great opportunity to continue the very positive momentum around openly discussing mental health issues. We have made great progress in the last decade but it’s essential that we continue to highlight issues around mental health and the mind over matter initiative will greatly assist in that mission.”
Vicki O’Toole, National sponsor of Mind Over Matter added “When JJ O’Toole Ltd, purveyors of packaging and design, was approached by its founder Kim Mc Kenzie Doyle last year to be a National Sponsor of Mind over Matter last year, I didn’t hesitate for a second to get involved as it was ticking a lot of boxes for me both personally and for our business . Mind Over Matter is the perfect forum for our company to support mental wellness in the creative sector and we hope by doing so, and talking together more,we can make a difference.
Today kick starts the launch of the ‘Mind Over Matter’ website where businesses can log on to book a design consultation on October 10th for just €75 all of which goes directly to AWARE.
Businesses all over Ireland can avail of this opportunity as the national day of creativity will take place in Dublin, Belfast, Carlow, Cork, Dundalk, Limerick and Waterford.
The event is being supported by 200 designers from all over Ireland who are donating 1,500 hours with all funds raised being donated to AWARE. Designers from all specialities are represented including graphic designers, architects, creative strategist, illustrator, interior design, product, interior designer, web developers. There is something for every type of business.
