Limerick rallies behind Lee Reeves with well wishes and fundraiser support
Friends and supporters from Limerick and beyond have shared messages of support and made donations for Limerick’s heroic boxer, Lee Reeves

Friends and supporters of Lee Reeves from Limerick and beyond have shared well-wishes and helped raise funds to support the 31-year-old boxer in his recovery.
The Roxborough boxer was rushed to Beaumont Hospital following his fight in Dublin on Saturday, where he was knocked out by his opponent, with a Queensberry Promotions spokesperson saying the young Limerick man is “still in hospital, in a critical but stable condition”.
A GoFundMe set up by Jonathan O Brien has seen more than €50,000 raised for Lee and his family, with many people, including fellow athletes and community groups, sending messages of support.
On the GoFundMe page, Jonathan O’Brien said, “I’m setting this up to help raise as much as we can for Lee Reeves and his Family to help cover his medical costs and recovery expenses.
“Also to give his family a hand out with their expenses too. Lee Reeves has given back to so many in his life, supports charities and his community in Limerick, Ireland and is one of our own. A genuine, good-hearted man. I know he would appreciate all our kindness and support. Let’s go, champ; this is your final round.”
Sharing their message of support for Lee, who is their charity ambassador, Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention said, “Lee has made an incredible contribution to mental health awareness and to the people of Limerick City. Through his courage, compassion and willingness to speak openly, he has helped break down barriers, encouraged important conversations and reminded so many people that it is okay to ask for support.
“Through his love of sport, Lee has also become a true role model, showing the importance of discipline, determination, resilience and never giving up. He is an inspiration to people across Limerick, including our own volunteers, who have seen first-hand the heart and passion he brings to everything he does.
“The entire LTSP family is praying for Lee, his family and everyone close to him during this incredibly difficult time. We are all behind you, Lee, and we wish you strength and a full and speedy recovery.”
