Light Up Limerick 2022 returns and is bigger and better than ever! It is time to decorate those vehicles of yours in festive Christmas lights for the event of the season.
The East Limerick Red Cross are holding a wonderful event this year in aid of a new ambulance base.
Light Up Limerick 2022 will feature an array of vehicles with everything from American trucks, tractors, cars, and trikes decorated to impress driving through Limerick City Centre on Sunday, December 18 with kick-off scheduled at 7 pm.
Santa Claus will lead the run with his Garda escort, flanked by motorbikes, trikes, trucks, tractors, and cars, decorated in Christmas lights, as well as members of the East Limerick Red Cross emergency and voluntary services.
Last year saw over 130 Vehicles take part ranging from big tractors and trucks to small cars and bikes.
Again, this year, colleagues in the Static and Voluntary emergency services are going to join in for a Blue Light appreciation run and help Light Up Limerick.
This event has now been taking place for three years. In year one, they only had a site with a few bricks, year two they had a roof and a door and now heading into year three, they finally have the first phase of electrics going in. The construction of their new ambulance base is all thanks to this fundraiser.
This charity event has helped Red Cross so much at a time when the pandemic affected most fundraising opportunities.
One of the organisers of the event, Dave said, “When I saw the smile it put on kids’ faces the first year I just knew we had to go again! Light Up Limerick 2022 is a great event for all members of the family. It will help get into the festive spirit while also raising money for this excellent charity.”
To enter your vehicle into this event, you can text/WhatsApp Dave on 085-8297550
Bucket collectors will be present during the event to raise funds for the ambulance base.
Light Up Limerick 2022 is sponsored by Martin Ryan & Sons Haulage.
