Lime Tree Theatre new Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival and season programme

Lime Tree Theatre new Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival, running in October, and new season programme launched programme this morning in the company of award-winning singer/songwriter Tommy Fleming and guests.

For the last three years, the Lime Tree Theatre has exposed audiences to rich and diverse experiences in theatre, opera, contemporary music, dance, cinema, musical theatre and children’s productions. This season they are providing yet another cracking array of events that are guaranteed to appeal to all tastes.

Following on from the ground-breaking success of Rigoletto earlier this year, the theatre is thrilled to open their new season with the premiere of Agrippina, by Irish Youth Opera on Tuesday, September 8^th. Highlights of the season ahead include Rough Magic’s world premiere of Bill Whelan and Arthur Riordan’s The Train, Patricia Routledge’s stop off on her Irish tour, Tommy Fleming’s new musical Paddy, the legendary Kilfenora Céilí Band.

But that’s not all. There’s The New Triangle, a trio with Declan O’Rourke, Damien Dempsey and Tommy Sheahan, Coppélia, the latest offering by Ballet Ireland. Fallen, a new piece by playwright Liam McCarthy, The Unlucky Canin Boy, one of the theatrical hits of Limerick City of Culture 2014 and How To Keep an Alien, a play that’s currently attracting rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. All this plys College Players Noises Off, the Cecilian Musical Society’s weird and wonderful The Adam’s Family and the Limerick Panto society’s Christmas show Goldilocks, The Circus Panto, starring Emma O’Driscoll. But there is so much more, this season promises to be a busy but entertaining few month.

A year flies by and already the theatre are delighted to present the second Bulaldh Bos Children’s Festival programme to engage young audiences with theatre, workshops, music and book events. Again this festival will take place in both the Lime Tree Theatre and 69 O’Connell Street venues. Catering for schools and famillies, the flagship event this year is the wonderful Carnival of the Animals, but Charles-Camille Saint-Saens, featuring Louis Lovett and an Irish Chamber ensemble. Other musical events include The Speks and The Trumplets. We’re very excited that the Abbey is presenting Me, Michael, the school performance of the festival. Branar return again this season with their magical theatre show Bláth and Sarah Bannan is one of three authors to visit Limerick during the month of October.
