Limerick Actress Michelle Fox nominated for the WhatsOnStage Awards

Limerick Actress Michelle Fox has been nominated for the WhatsOnStage Awards for the ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Play’ category for her role as Sarah in the play ‘Translations’ by Brian Friel.

Academy Award winner Dame Judi Dench has been a recipient of the award in the past.

The WhatsOnStage awards are the only major theatre awards in the UK, in which the audience are the judges across all categories. Each year, the awards shortlists are drawn up with the help of thousands of theatre-goers who log on to nominate their favourites across all awards categories.

All professional productions that began between December 2017 and November 2018 are eligible in 18 of the 24 categories.

The Award acknowledges the hard work that takes place off stage to make productions happen. You can nominate any person that you would like to see recognised for their contribution to the theatre industry.

Early last year, Michelle Fox bagged a role in the BBC3 drama Overshadowed. The story followed the life of Imogene, a 17-year-old Irish blogger who becomes ill with anorexia. 

Michelle Fox, Caherdavin native started her acting career at Frontline Stage School. At the age of 16, she joined the Limerick Youth Theatre.

Michelle then went on to study Drama at University College Cork before moving to London to try her hand at acting and enrolled at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Michelle also played a small part in the BBC programmes Doctors and legendary television show Casualty, however, the role of Imogen is her first leading television role.

From boisterous Bea in Casualty to shy Sarah in Translations, Michelle is a talent to watch.

Nominations and votes are limited to one per person and require an email address to maintain the integrity of the submission. Voting closes on Thursday, January 31, 2019.
