Limerick artist Evan Healy is set to represent Ireland at the Chianciano Biennale, 2024, located in Chianciano Terme in Tuscany, Italy.
Showcasing the work of 150 international contemporary artists from over 40 countries, and attracting many more art critics and collectors, this prestigious exhibition will run from the 3rd to the 18th of August, and has a rich history of showcasing modern artistic excellence for over a decade.
Evan Healy will be showcasing his artwork ‘Introspection’ at the 8th edition of the Biennale to an international audience, which has been described as ‘one of the most dynamic art celebrations in the world’. The Biennale will be held across a network of 13 art galleries and the Chianciano Museum.
‘It is an honor to be selected to exhibit my work at the Biennale this year, especially with many highly accomplished and skilled artists from around the world. It is also another great opportunity to further my career as an artist and to showcase my work to an international audience’.
Evan Healy’s graphite and charcoal artwork can be categorised as a blend of classical realism and surrealism, with specific focus on the human condition in the modern world. “It is important for us to figure out our place in the modern world. We as a species are so far removed from the lifestyle we were designed to live, especially in the developed western world. Lifestyles that can feel increasingly alienating and isolating with the rapid advancement of technology and the role it plays in our lives. With my piece ‘Introspection’, I aim to bring awareness to the process of analysing our current circumstances, and how we use this newly acquired knowledge to our advantage or detriment.”
Evan Healy has also exhibited at a number of other exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. Including the prestigious ‘London Art Biennale 2023’, curated by the International Confederation of Art Critics, Ireland’s largest art fair ‘Art Source 2023’ and his first solo exhibition ‘Humble Beginnings’ held at ‘The People’s Museum of Limerick’ in March earlier this year.
