The Limerick Arts Office at the Limerick City and County Council is delighted to announce their annual funding of bursary opportunities for 2018. Limerick Arts Office Bursary Opportunities 2018 is in place to support the professional development of artists and other creative practitioners across the city and county of Limerick in line with the Limerick Cultural Strategy, A Framework 2016-2030.

Five bursaries are available to allow for participation at specific summer schools taking place at specific summer schools taking place across Limerick and in Monaghan over the coming months. The five bursaries opportunities available under the Limerick Arts Office Bursary Opportunities 2018 are the Blas International Summer School, the Meitheal Summer School Bursary, the Irish Youth Choir Bursary, the Drama League of Ireland Summer School Bursary and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre Regional Bursary.

Limerick Arts Office Bursary Opportunities 2018 is offering bursaries to five different summer schools this Summer.

Sheila Deegan, Limerick Arts Office spoke of the continued development of artists, and how she felt it’s a key objective within the Limerick Cultural Strategy, “We are delighted to be providing these opportunities for creative practitioners to learn new skills, [and] meet new people which in turn may lead to enhanced opportunities.”

The Blas International Summer School takes place from June 25 to July 6 and is held at the Irish World Academy of Music, University of Limerick. This bursary will cover one week’s tuition, which will include lectures, workshops and assessment and attendance at all concerts. Limerick Arts Office Bursary Opportunities 2018 is offering two bursaries to attend this year’s Meitheal Irish Music Summer School. In this bursary, 5 days tuition will be included, with accommodation, meals, activities, and supervision also. This bursary is open to musician’s resident in Limerick City and Council who can demonstrate a high competency in Irish Music. It takes place in Villiers School, North Circular Road, Limerick. The Irish Youth Choir Summer Course is another summer course held at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and is separated into groups taking place Irish Youth Training Choir (14-17 years), 23rd-27th June, Irish Youth Choir (18-28 yrs.), 29th June – 8th July. Limerick Arts Office Bursary Opportunities 2018 is offering two bursaries to attend the summer course. Each bursary will cover a week’s tuition. This bursary is open to specifically Choir members who are resident in Limerick City and County. Full details, and how to apply are available at www.aoic.ie/iyc/join_us/irish_youth_choir.

The 53rd Annual Drama League of Ireland Residential Summer School is being held at the University of Limerick again this year, and the Limerick Arts Office Bursary Opportunities 2018 is offering one non-residential bursary, open to practitioners who are resident in Limerick. Limerick Culture & Arts Office, Limerick City and County Council, is delighted to announce an open call to recognized cultural practitioners, across all art forms, born or residing within Limerick City and County, to apply for a bursary to undertake a short residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig in Co. Monaghan.  This bursary covers all board and lodging expenses for 1 week. For more information follow http://www.tyroneguthrie.ie/.

The deadline for application to these bursaries is 5 pm, Friday 18 May.

The Arts Office is working in partnership with Words Ireland to offer two Limerick-based writers the opportunity to attend the Words Ireland @ IFLDublin on Friday, May 25 free of charge. If interested please email [email protected] with your CV, and a short brief outlining your writing experience, along with your reason for wishing to attend this event. The deadline for the application to the Words Ireland @ ILFDublin is 5 pm, Tuesday 8 May.
