Carving a 40km path through the local countryside, the Limerick Greenway offers an authentic experience of rural Ireland for cyclists, runners and walkers. Following the old Limerick to Kerry railway line, the Greenway seamlessly links the West Limerick landscape with bustling towns and villages and some of the country’s most historic sites.

National Bike Week runs for eight days from Saturday, May 14 through to Sunday, May 22.

This year will see Limerick City and County Council and Limerick Sports Partnership organise a week of events in workplaces, schools and communities, all designed to celebrate the joy of taking to two (or more) wheels.

Limerick Bike Week will culminate with a family cycle in the heart of Limerick city. It will begin at Arthur’s Quay at 2pm on Sunday, May 22 and will see hundreds of cyclists, young and old, take to the streets of the city.

Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Cllr Daniel Butler said: “Bike Week is a great opportunity to remind us all of the benefits of cycling. I hope that it inspires more children in Limerick to ride to school in the future, and more adults to consider taking to two wheels for those shorter journeys.”
