Limerick brothers Tomás O’Maoldomhnaigh and Dominick Moloney to launch new book on Thursday, February 19
Book Launch ‘In the Artist’s Footsteps revisiting Jonathan Fisher’s Killarney’ by Limerick brothers Artist Tomás O’Maoldomhnaigh and photographer Dominick Moloney set for February 19

Local Artist Tomás O’Maoldomhnaigh will be holding a Book Launch on Thursday, February 19 at 7:30 pm in O’Mahony’s Bookshop, O’Connell Street, Limerick, with an open invitation to all those interested.
In this book, brothers Dominick and Tomás take on the task of retracing Fisher’s steps, recreating his original 20 scenes. Through Dominick’s camera and Tomás’s brush, Fisher’s visions are brought to life once more in a stunning series of photographs and paintings.
In 1770, Jonathan Fisher (1740-1809) was the first artist to produce a series of views of Killarney when he painted six picturesque scenes of Killarney and its environs. These were subsequently reproduced as engravings which helped to develop the town, lakes, and mountains as a tourist destination, a project begun by Thomas Browne (1726-1795), 4th Viscount Kenmare.
This unique, bespoke publication invites readers to revisit Fisher’s Killarney of the 1700’s while exploring the Moloney brothers’ modern recreations, produced with advanced photographic techniques and contemporary artistry.
Dominick became terminally ill towards the end of the project and never got to see his work published. The two brothers previously produced a book called ‘Discover Limerick’. This is Tomás’s third book. His first book was titled ‘The Book of Clare’.
Tomás O’Maoldomhnaigh says he was always interested in drawing ‘from early childhood’. Tomás has been a professional artist/illustrator for many years. He works mainly to commission, illustration, equine and portrait art. He has held 35 solo art exhibitions.
The book is available for sale in O’Mahony’s Ennis, Limerick and Kerry. Details of the book can be seen on Tomas’s Facebook page and Instagram or via his website www.tomasartist.com
