The Limerick Camera Club has finished putting together their program for September – January; with great excitement for the year ahead.

Limerick Camera Club has been part of the landscape of amateur photography in Limerick City for over 70 years, the club has moved through the different styles of Photography & Camera from film to Digital.

Over the years the Club & its members have helped to develop skills from total beginner to the more advanced photographer. Limerick Camera Club welcomes people of all abilities, regardless of your level of photography, there is something for everybody, we hold workshops, demonstrations, club competitions and not for getting the social side of the club with Club outing’s, and Club day trips.

The Limerick Camera Club will kick start their year on Wednesday 6th September with an Open Night.  The club is open to all members new and old, and non – members are welcome to come along and see the work of the club, meet the people behind the club and find out what it is all about.

They will follow this with a trade night on Wednesday, September 13th, Local Business will attend the Club, so if you are thinking of buying a new camera or adding to your collection this will be a night to ask your questions.

Wednesday, October 4th welcomes back the beginner’s class; this class starts at 7 pm and is for new club member’s beginning out in photography or members that want to refresh on skills.

The Limerick Camera Club are very excited to have Guest Speakers such as Ellen Mc Dermott & Eimhear Collins come to the club this year. They will showcase their work, speak about their experiences and how to capture the perfect shot.

As a member of Limerick Camera Club, you will be able to enter Monthly competitions, as a beginner or more advanced photographer.

Within the club, there is a group of members known as the “Snappers”, this group meet once a week outside of the club night and go to locations within the Limerick region. From time to time, the group also take trips to Clare, Cork, Tipperary and further afield. The idea behind the birth of the Snappers is to take photos, learn new locations and learn from each other.

This year Limerick Camera Club is hosting a Guest Speaker on Saturday 9th September, in the Tara Building T116 in Mary Immaculate College. They are delighted to have Molly Keane, who was chosen as 1 of 12 photographers from across Europe, both amateur and professional to compete in a photography competition Sky Arts Master of Photography. Molly is now in the top 7 photographers in Europe that applied & participated in the show. Entrance is only €5 it will start at 2 pm and run until 5.30 pm

The Club membership fees are:

Membership Annual Subscription – €40

Seniors, Students and unwaged – €25

Weekly fee – €4, to support room hire and the weekly draw for a prize of €20

The Club meets every Wednesday from September through to May in Room 203 of Mary Immaculate College, South Circular Road, Limerick.
