Limerick Car Club makes generous donation to TLC4CF Limerick as part of the club’s effort in giving back to the local community and Limerick charity

Limerick Car Club continues their ongoing charitable initiatives with their latest donation of €2,161 to Cystic Fibrosis Limerick (TLC4CF) highlights the club’s commitment to supporting local causes while bringing car enthusiasts together.
Speaking to I Love Limerick, Ray Gavin, Limerick Car Club member stated, “Most men grew up loving cars or motorbikes, and through their love of cars, meeting up for car shows gives them a purpose to get out to the garage on long cold dark nights and get their pride and joy into pristine condition to bring them to a car meet up, to chat with other like minded car lovers.”
When these car lovers heard there was going to be a car show in the Woodlands House Hotel Adare in aid of Cystic Fibrosis and that DJ Katie Sheehan would be on site, Ray aid the enthusiasts “came in great numbers to get their beloved cars into the show” which helped the Limerick Car Club raise as many Euros as possible for this great charity.
“Car and bike lovers are some of the biggest donators to local charity,” said Ray, who also organises “Cars & Coffee Limerick” with the help of Brian Draper, Marie Reeves Gavin, Noel Mulcahy, Ger Barry, Tony Guerin, and Ed Power.
These events bring car enthusiasts together once a month to have a coffee while chatting about everything car or motorbike related. Each month Ray chooses a local charity and invites them to come to collect donations by filling their buckets.
The results speak for themselves with the generous donations made by the car and motorbike enthusiasts, by selecting a local charity to support, Ray told I Love Limerick, “We feel that if it goes into the local charities, local people who need the support of these charities, will benefit from all donations from Cars and Coffee Limerick events.”

As well as supporting local charities, the group has formed a community of its own with Ray explaining, “It’s an opportunity each month for people with a love of cars and motorbikes to get out, meet people who have similar interests have fun, and its also a time for them to chat about what has been happening in their lives and can get information about where to get parts or how to repair their pride and Joy.”
Finding a venue to host more than 200 cars can be a tough task, Ray expressed the Limerick Car Club gratitude to the Woodlands Hotel, Adare, who have been accommodating of what is needed to host an event of this scale.
Ray said, “Woodlands made hosting the event super easy and went out of their way to provide anything that was needed to host the Limerick Car Club show. We work very well with David and Claire of the Woodlands hotel. We understood their needs and they understand ours.”
Preparations for this year’s Limerick Car Club show are well advanced and there will be many more classic, modern, sports, vintage, and motorsport cars in the Woodlands house hotel Adare in September 2025.
The recent cheque presentation at Woodlands House Hotel saw Ray Gavin and fellow Limerick Car Club member Brian Draper, hand over the €2,161 donation to Liam O’Kelly of Cystic Fibrosis Limerick. Also present were Michael Fitgearld, Sean Scanlon, Padraig Gaffrey, Elaina Fitzgerald of Woodlands House Hotel, and Jude Daly.
