Brian Draper, Limerick Car Club, noted the addition of the charity allowed the car community help put smiles back on old and young faces with a truly unbelievable array of Vehicles from the past to the present on display.

Speaking to I Love Limerick previously about the group, Ray Gavin, Limerick Car Club member stated, “Most men grew up loving cars or motorbikes, and through their love of cars, meeting up for car shows gives them a purpose to get out to the garage on long cold dark nights and get their pride and joy into pristine condition to bring them to a car meet up, to chat with other like minded car lovers.”

The results of the group’s charity endeavours speak for themselves with the generous donations made by the car and motorbike enthusiasts, by selecting a local charity to support, Ray told I Love Limerick, “We feel that if it goes into the local charities, local people who need the support of these charities, will benefit from all donations from Cars and Coffee Limerick events.”

As well as supporting local charities, the group has formed a community of its own with Ray explaining, “It’s an opportunity each month for people with a love of cars and motorbikes to get out, meet people who have similar interests have fun, and its also a time for them to chat about what has been happening in their lives and can get information about where to get parts or how to repair their pride and Joy.”

Finding a venue to host more than 200 cars can be a tough task, Ray expressed the Limerick Car Club gratitude to the Woodlands Hotel, Adare, who have been accommodating of what is needed to host an event of this scale.

Ray said, “Woodlands made hosting the event super easy and went out of their way to provide anything that was needed to host the Limerick Car Club show. We work very well with David and Claire of the Woodlands hotel. We understood their needs and they understand ours.”

The charity’s mission is to help families from local communities in Ireland who have children with long term or serious illnesses. According to the Foundation, “The name ‘Little Blue Heroes’ came about when we found that the vast amount of the children we support have a strong fascination with police uniform, equipment, vehicles, Garda units, etc. This has even led some of the children to make a wish to become an Honorary Garda and become part of the Garda family. As heroes to us with the battles they face, these children have become our Little Blue Heroes.”
