Limerick is beautifully celebrated in the prize winning videos for the ‘Limerick Earth Day Video Competition’. Deputy Mayor Cllr Michael Hourigan and Ms Helen O Donnell awarded prizes at a ceremony in the Hunt Museum, Thursday 3rd May 2012.

Deputy Mayor of Limerick Cllr Michael Hourigan – “I want to compliment our prizewinners. I am a proud Limerick City man. I was born and raised here and I am delighted with the quality of the videos and how Limerick City is depicted as a bright and vibrant place.”

Ms. Helen O Donnell, Limerick Tidy Towns Committee – “The Limerick Tidy Towns Committee is pleased to host today’s Award Ceremony. One of the key aims of the Tidy Towns Committee is to encourage pride in our City. We would like people to celebrate our City every day. The Earth Day Videos are wonderful depictions of Limerick. Congratulations to all the Prize Winners.”

Limerick City Council’s Environment Department Sponsored the prizes for the Earth Day Video Competition. The Limerick Print Makers received an award of €500 for the most environmentally friendly entry in the St Patrick’s Day Parade.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
