One Limerick charity is being offered the ‘Chance’ to be on their very own Community Chest square on the brand new official MONOPOLY board for Limerick, it is announced today. And not just any square either. Limerick Charity Getting Monopoly

There are three Community Chest squares on a MONOPOLY board: One in the modest part of town, one mid-town and one right bang in the middle of the most expensive real estate – and that’s just where the winning Limerick charity getting Monopoly Limerick prime real estate will be placed. And as the Community Chest squares don’t have a price tag on them then you won’t able to put a price on this charity!

The new MONOPOLY board for Limerick was announced last week and the makers say that since then they have been “very nicely well” oversubscribed. A delighted MONOPOLY boss Jake Houghton added:

“The response to the Limerick MONOPOLY board has been beyond our expectation in just one week since making the announcement. Way beyond. Thank you Limerick for helping make this a great board.”

Of the specific charity square Mr Houghton added: “The charity square is our way of saying a BIG thank you to the people of Limerick – county and city. There are 30,000 streets, landmarks and organisations that could potentially feature on our new board, maybe realistically 300. But there are only 30 or so squares up for grabs.”

The winning nominated charity would have to be formally registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority, as well as have a distinctive Limerick connection.

The charity will reside close to the swanky Limerick landmarks that will be replacing the Bond Street and Mayfair locations on the board,

The public can suggest their favourite charity – or the charity can nominate themselves.

The board will be stocked at all leading Limerick stores including Argos, Dunnes and HMV – as well as widely online including amazon. It will hit shop shelves later this year in time for Christmas. “A pure coincidence,” jests Mr Houghton, Customs Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, who are producing the board under license from MONOPOLY owners Hasbro.

The following locations could feature on the new board and have all been well suggested to the MONOPOLY team during their time when they announced the board and from ongoing research since: The People’s Park, King John’s Castle, Thomond Stadium, The Treaty Stone and Shannon Airport. “We’ve had lots of great suggestions,” adds Mr Houghton. “We’ve also had some funny ones in familiar Irish fashion including the four corner squares being replaced by pubs, as there’s one on every corner” as well as ones we can’t mention!”
