Limerick Choral Festival 2025 brings sacred music to Limerick City

The much-anticipated 2025 annual Limerick Choral Festival of Sacred Music takes place on Friday 28th February & Saturday 1st March at Mt. St. Alphonsus (Redemptorists) & St. Joseph’s Church, O’Connell Ave.

Esteemed adjudicators for the weekend event will be Ms Blánaid Murphy, Dublin and Dr Gareth Cox, Limerick.

Among the Limerick choirs taking part will be the Limerick Educate Together N.S. Choir, Cór Scoil Gaelscoil an Ráithín, John F. Kennedy Memorial School Choir and Milford National School Choir – to mention but a few.

Augmented by choirs from Clare, Galway, Westmeath, Waterford, Offaly, Dublin, Cork, and Tipperary, a total contingent of over 30 choirs will make up this year’s event – performing a variety of choral pieces ranging from church/sacred music, gospel to early music and various contemporary compositions of all types.

The highlight of this year’s festival is the Opening Concert on Friday, February 28th, at 7:30pm in St. Joseph’s Church

The highlight of this year’s festival is the Opening Concert on Friday, February 28th, at 7:30pm in St. Joseph’s Church (O’Connell Avenue). The acclaimed Galway Baroque Singers, under the direction of Peter Mannion, will join forces with the Limerick Chamber Choir, led by Máire Keary Scanlon, for an unforgettable evening of choral excellence.

Doors open at 7:00 PM, with free admission and a retiring collection at the end of the performance. Dr. Michael O’Brien, President of Limerick Choral Festival Society has expressed his deep appreciation to all those who have actively supported this year’s event or assisted in any way to make up such a significant programme of events.

All competitions and associated events over the festival weekend are open to the public, so do please come along and enjoy the wonderful singing commencing at 11am on Saturday 28th February at Mt. St. Alphonsus Church.
