If Christmas is a time for children then it’s most definitely children’s time in Limerick this weekend as the city turns into a festive playground with a range of free Limerick Christmas events!

The Christmas red carpet will be rolled out for the younger ones as a range of magical festivities get underway, much of it revolving around the launch of Santa’s Magic Post Box and other free events on Bedford Row this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9, 10 and 11 December.

The special venue is expected to welcome large numbers of children as they arrive to dispatch their most important letter of the year. Limerick Christmas events.

The big man is leaving nothing undone in making sure it’s a very special Christmas for children in Limerick as he is sending a team of helpers to the location to collect the special post and create lots of fun while there.

The elves will operate their busy seasonal workshop under a covered marquee as they go about their business of helping visiting children make Christmas tree decorations, wrap gifts, make lanterns and puppets and tell stories.

There’ll even be something for adults as they can learn how to make Christmas wreaths with Limerick Printmakers also on hand with workshops at the same location.

Santa’s Magic Post Box has been designed by FABLAB in Limerick, who have made all the festive installations for Limerick this year.

Children are also being asked to bring along an unwrapped toy for the St Vincent De Paul Christmas appeal.

Limerick city’s main thoroughfare will also be buzzing this weekend as the city comes alive with the sound of Christmas music for Musical Treats on O’Connell Street from 3-6pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as Limerick City and County Council gives a platform to local charities and groups to entertain Christmas shoppers with live music, festive trad and carol singing.

Limerick City and County Mayor Cllr Kieran O’Hanlon said: “Christmas is all about children and we’ve redoubled our efforts this year to make sure it’s a Christmas to remember for kids in Limerick.

“We all have fond memories of Christmas in the city and the range of activities put on for this weekend honours that great tradition in style.”

This weekend’s events are organized by Goldiefish events on behalf of Christmas in Limerick – an initiative by Limerick City and County Council in association with Limerick Chamber.

There is free parking in the city centre, Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale and Kilmallock every day until 11.30am up to Christmas Eve with free parking always on Sundays.
