Lights 2013 (11)Emma O Driscoll, Limerick Rose Chloe Heslin, Mayor Kathleen Leddin and Cathaoirleach John Sheehan were joined by Santa in turning on the Limerick Christmas Lights 2013 on Thomas Street. The Christmas atmosphere was in full swing from 1 pm with live music from local band the Papa Zitas, while Santa made the long journey from the North Pole to Patrick Street and O’Connell Street, before setting up shop in a log cabin on Thomas Street.

This year, in addition to Limerick’s traditional decorations, the City Council are also to start adding ‘litter awareness profiles’ of Santa and Rudolph to thirty-two city centre litter bins on Cruises Street, Thomas Street, Bedford Row and O’Connell Street.
