Jess O Connor announces Limerick Circus Workshops in May
Fresh from recent performances with No Fit State and other international circus companies, Jess O Connor is back in her hometown of Limerick to teach aerial based Limerick circus workshops. The Limerick Circus Workshops will be held at the Irish Aerial Creation Centre on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27, 2018. Tickets for the workshops are €60 plus a booking fee.
Jess will be running three workshops over the weekend as well as offering private tuition. On May 26 & 27 from 10 am – 1 pm she will be running a mixed aerial intensive course. This is open to everyone (aged 16+) and there is no prior experience necessary. This workshop will work on a series of tricks and combos on a trapeze, aerial rope and silk and also aerial hoop.
The second workshop will be a masterclass in aerial rope on Saturday, May 26, 2 pm- 5 pm. This workshop is suitable for people with prior experience in rope (aged 16+) and will run through some static poses as well as some drops and combos. For this workshop, participants must be able to climb comfortably and confidently, invert and know basic locks like foot lock and hip lock.
The final workshop is a masterclass in aerial hoop on Sunday, May 27, 2 pm – 5 pm, and is suitable for people with prior experience in aerial hoop (aged 16+). This workshop will work on a variety of different static tricks, which can be incorporated, into a spinning sequence and also on some more dynamic drops, beats and rolls. Participants must be able to mount & dismount the hoop comfortably and confidently, invert and be comfortable in a hox (hanging by your knees).
Speaking about the Limerick circus workshops, Jess says she hopes that the attendees will “Come run away with the circus for a weekend of sliding down silks, spinning in hoops, swinging from ropes and swaying on trapezes”.
These workshops are accessible and inclusive of all ages (16+) and abilities. Attendees will learn a variety of foundation skills on each apparatus as well as receiving guidance in how to develop those skills into their own repertoire. The main focus of the circus workshops is to provide an introduction (or refresher) of the basics in a safe, fun and friendly environment.
