The radio station can accept sponsorship and in return Limerick Community Radio gives them an hour-long show every week throughout the year.

Some groups that have been previously involved with the Community radio have been charity organisation and even the army veterans and the men’s shed.

Mike O’Connor has his own show on the Limerick Community Radio titled ‘My Kind of Limerick People’ which is a show that talks about all things Limerick – the people, chat and music. It promotes all of the people who wouldn’t normally get attention from media outlets and promotes home talent.

“They could be legends around the town but nobody else would really know who they are. We try to promote the culture and music of the city rather than just coming on and banging out any song.” Mike O’Connor told the Limerick Leader.

Limerick City Community Radio is broadcasted online from Monday to Friday and also on the weekends on 99.9fm – the same frequency as student-station WiredFm.

Mr O’Connor also said that the station is aiming to  “go for a full-time seven-day licence” and hopes to obtain it within two years time.
