ISPCC Childline recruits volunteers for its Childline services, as well as volunteers to help raise vital funds, volunteering with Childline offers opportunities to learn new skills, make friends and help to make a difference in the lives of children and young people. Full training and support are provided.

As the Limerick Unit recently became one of Childline by ISPCC’s Digital First Units, Limerick-based volunteers are recruited and trained to deliver the group’s Digital Mental Health and Wellbeing Programmes service aimed at young people – and parents/carers who support young people – with mild to moderate anxiety.

ISPCC Childline volunteers, after training, will cover a four-hour weekly shift, from the Limerick unit, where their main focus will be to provide weekly reviews and feedback in written form based on the young person or parent/carer’s engagement. A spokesperson for the group said, “ISPCC is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and young people; they are at the heart of everything we do. We do this by providing a suite of relevant services, all under the Childline brand.

“Our child-centred services, programmes and supports are focused on strengthening resilience and developing coping competencies. By listening to, supporting and empowering children and young people, we strive to ensure they are better equipped to face life’s ups and downs and reach their full potential.”

The spokesperson noted the group “speak out and advocate for meaningful change” to enhance the lives of young people today and “leave a legacy of improved childhood experiences for future generations of children and young people”.

If you are computer literate, comfortable with written communication, empathetic and supportive and have an interest in tools and techniques that encourage wellbeing, then volunteering for the ISPCC Childline Digital Support Service might be for you as recruitment for the Limerick unit starts now, and training will take place in early 2025.

For anyone who wishes to sign up for the Digital Mental Health and Wellbeing Programmes service to learn how to support the young people in their life or if you know anyone aged 15-18 who may want support coping with anxiety, please contact [email protected], the spokesperson adding, “Our referral process is easy, and we have no waiting list!”
