Limerick DiverCity Multicultural Event
Limerick DiverCity Multicultural Event at Limerick Institute of Technology
I hosted a spectacular multicultural food, music, dance and arts family event called ‘Limerick Divercity’ on Tuesday April 8 at Limerick Institute of Technology in the Aula Maxima hall. The Limerick Divercity event was a celebration of the diversity and community spirit to be found in Limerick as City of Culture 2014. No need to hop on a plane to discover the world and celebrate cultural differences when you can come to see various ethnic performances such as Brazilian Capoeira Martial Art, a Chinese Lion Dance, a Nepalese Rock band, the Latvian children folk dance “Taurenitis” along with Indian, Polish and Russian performances. There was also be an arts exhibition and international food stands. It was be a family day with children’s activities in the form of face painting, henna tattoo and workshops with an opportunity to win a great prize in a children’s art competition. The event was presented by LIT 2nd year Event Management Students with all funds raised going to support Doras Luimni, who support and promote the rights of all migrants living in Limerick and the wider Mid-West region.
