Limerick City and County Council recently launched its own branded mobile parking payments service, Limerick e-Parking.

Limerick City was amongst the first cities in Ireland to introduce cashless parking payments in 2008 and is again leading the way with the newly launched customer-friendly service, operated by ParkMagic.

With the new service, which is accessible on all Limerick City and County on-street parking areas, customers can avail of 30-minutes parking for as little as €0.50 on a free Limerick e-parking app, a mobile website for smart phone users, by calling a local number listed on the parking  signs (061-303093) or via their desktops through the new Limerick E-Parking, below.

The introduction of service means motorists will not be required to purchase parking discs or tickets and can instead pay their parking fee on the new system.

Cllr. Jerry O’Dea, Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Limerick joined Elected Members, Council officials and local business representatives for today’s launch at Merchants Quay.

“I am delighted that the very popular ParkMagic service, which is used by thousands of Limerick parkers on a daily basis for the last 7 years, is getting an entirely new look and feel thereby enhancing the parking experience in Limerick City and County.

“Through innovation and a progressive attitude to technology and customer service, Limerick City and County Council is creating quality access to the city and county thereby making it a welcoming experience for both local people and visitors alike. This newly launched service is especially timely as we approach the busy festive shopping period,” he said.

Cllr. Maurice Ouinlivan, Chairman of the Travel and Transportation SPC of Limerick City and County Council welcomed the timely launch of the service

“The city and county towns parking stock, both on street and off street, represents a key asset which must be efficiently and effectively managed,” he said. “The easy availability of convenient value for money parking and parking information is oxygen to the residential, business and commercial lifeblood of the city and county. The ability to accommodate and predict the cycle of parking demand is vital.”

“Limerick City and its county towns have developed through successive development plans more than adequate parking stock to sustain the business and commercial needs now and into the future. Thankfully, we have lots of parking available at fair prices and thanks to this project with easy and convenient  methods of payment,” added Cllr. Quinlivan.

Gordon Daly Director of Services, Service Operations/Change Management, Limerick City and County Council, said the new service allows for “more effective and efficient parking management and enforcement operations”.

“The added advantage is that there is no need to display any stickers as traffic wardens will be checking the payment validity based on a customer’s car registration. ParkMagic App users can continue to pay for their parking in Limerick through the same App while infrequent users such as visitors to Limerick can also benefit from instant parking option where no registration is required,” he added.

Paul Fitzgerald CEO of ParkMagic Mobile Solutions Ltd, the Limerick e- Parking service provider for Limerick City and Council, said ParkMagic is “delighted to be associated with the project.”

With the new service, customers are offered a variety of easy ways to pay for their parking including a free Limerick e-parking app and a mobile website for smart phone users. The new website not only will allow customers to pay for parking and manage their accounts, it will offer the car park pre-booking services at three Q-Park sites in Limerick and provide information about on-street and off-street parking in Limerick City and County and will act as a marketing tool in promoting Limerick City and County,” he said.

Customers who do not have smartphones can pay for their parking by calling a local number listed on the parking signs – 061 30 30 93. For more convenience, customers will be able to pay for their parking from their desktops through the new Limerick E-Parking website.

Existing users of ParkMagic must ensure they have a correct vehicle registration on their account and they can do that by logging into their personal account on the ParkMagic website, below, e-mailing [email protected] or by calling ParkMagic Customer Care on 0818 220 107.
