Denise O’Brien and her daughter, Sophie, will lace up their running shoes this October 5 to take part in the Cook Medical Mini Marathon with an aim of raising funds for Milford Care Centre in memory of their beloved aunt and great-aunt, Ann Moore, who sadly passed away in 2024.

Denise and Sophie, two of Ann’s devoted relatives, are leading the charge in the fundraising effort, having raised more than €400 so far, eclipsing their initial goal of €200. The pair are running this year’s mini marathon in memory of Ann Moore, a much-loved mother, aunt, and friend who passed away on 4 July 2024 at the age of 49. Her loss has been deeply felt by all who knew her, and this event is the family’s way of honouring her memory while giving back to the hospice that supported her and her loved ones during such a difficult time.

Writing on the Eventmaster fundraising page, Denise said, “Myself and Sophie are taking part in the Cook Mini Marathon to raise funds for Milford Hospice in loving memory of our much loved and really missed Aunt Ann. This is our way of saying thanks to Milford for the care Ann was given during her time there. Any donation or even a share of this page would mean so much to us all.”

Each year, the Cook Medical Mini Marathon sees thousands of participants take to the streets in celebration of community and raising funds for charity. For many, like Denise and Sophie, the event will represent much more, marking a tribute to a loved one.

Thankful for the support so far, Denise writes, “Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Your support is really appreciated. If you can help me to promote this page, I would greatly appreciate it.”

Milford Hospice, known for its specialist palliative care, provides a range of services from rehabilitation to end-of-life care, both on-site and within the community through its more than 350 staff and 100 volunteers. The hospice supports patients and their families during incredibly difficult times and fundraisers such as the Cook Medical Mini Marathon help the group maintain the high standards of care they provide.
