Limerick FC announces the addition of two new members of staff as the club enters a “new era” calling for support
Limerick FC has announced two new additions to its staff as the club enters what they describe as a new era, focusing on building a “stable, sustainable, and successful” League of Ireland club.
Making the announcement on social media, the group said, “Limerick FC is entering an exciting new phase-focused on building a stable, sustainable, and successful senior League of Ireland club that the city, county, and wider Mid-West region can relate to, support, and be proud of.
“We are moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose, inviting everyone who loves football in Limerick to help shape a more united football future for the region.”
Following the statement released by the club, they followed up with the appointment of two new staff.
Limerick FC confirmed Alasdair MacInnes is joining the MU15s coaching staff as Goalkeeping Coach for the 2026 National League season.
They said, “Limerick FC is delighted to confirm that Alasdair MacInnes is joining the MU15s coaching staff as Goalkeeping Coach for the 2026 National League season.”
The second appointment announced by Limerick FC was the appointment of Mike Aherne as Manager of its LDL A team, Carew Limerick United.
They said, “Well-known in local football circles, Mike is a former League of Ireland player with Limerick FC, a former FAI Junior Cup winner with Pike Rovers, and brings nine years of junior management experience gained at clubs such as Aisling Annacotty and, most recently, Janesboro FC.”
Capping off a series of announcements, the club put out a statement on Monday, November 24, saying, “In recent months, we have been rebuilding purposefully, bringing former players, coaches, and volunteers together to help shape a club the people of Limerick can relate to and be proud of.
“But this is only the beginning. In the coming weeks, supporters will be given the chance to shape what comes next, including designing the new club crest, choosing our colours, and becoming co-owners of the club.
“Together, we can create a better future for senior football in Limerick. Join the movement now.”
