Limerick Festivals Guide 2019 out now with over a hundred festivals and gigs
Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr James Collins has welcomed the launch of a new 2019 Limerick Festivals Guide which showcases more than 100 festivals and big gigs across Limerick.
The 32-page guide, produced by the Marketing & Communications Department of Limerick City and County Council, highlights some of the events taking place to help locals and visitors plan for all the festivals taking place around the city and county.
Mayor Collins said: “The Limerick Festivals Guide 2019 highlights the amount and range of events that are taking in Limerick throughout the year. The range of events is astounding and shows the creativity and innovation of culture and arts practitioners across the city and county.”
“From Limerick’s premier festival Riverfest, the Castleconnell Fright Fest, Soulscapes in Kilmallock, the Bluegrass Festival in Bruff or Askeaton Contemporary Arts, the guide is jam-packed full of ideas for fun days and nights out in Limerick.”
The guide is easy to navigate as it’s been divided into months and then colour coded depending on the type of event.
So whether it’s ‘Family Fun’ such as Riverfest in May or Knockaderry Village Fayre in August, a ‘Big Gig’ like Madness and Jenny Greene in ‘Live at the Docklands’ in May and June, ‘Literary’ for the Éigse Michel Hartnett in Oct, or ‘History & Heritage’ for the Lough Gur Summer Solstice Festival in June, there is something for everyone.
Laura Ryan, Head of Marketing & Communications with Limerick City and County Council said: “We provide a free service to festival organisers throughout Limerick by promoting their events through a comprehensive listing on Limerick.ie, our official guide to Limerick.
This new guide compliments that service and our digital marketing campaigns ….It’s also really helpful to help locals and visitors plan for their days and nights out in Limerick as the number of festivals and gigs is staggering, ranging from local community ones to large international gigs. It allows a greater promotion and marketing of all of these festivals, making more people aware that they are taking place and ultimately help them grow…”
Organisers can submit details of all their festivals and events via My Limerick on Limerick.ie for FREE promotion in our online and printed publications.
Sheila Deegan, Culture and Arts Officer with Limerick City and County Council said: “Festivals are an important way of bringing us together to share and learn about ourselves, our culture, our heritage and give confidence and voice to creative expression of all kinds. The recent investment by Limerick City and County Council into festivals is a testament to the belief that they can create a sense of belonging as well as the impact on the social and economic life of Limerick.”
“If you’re planning on running a festival in Limerick, please get in touch with us so we can help to promote it.”
The guide is now available at Limerick City and County Council offices and across Limerick.
