Excitement is building in Limerick as the Senior County Football team gear up for their 2025 Tailteann Cup final when they travel to Croke Park on Saturday

Excitement is building in Limerick as the Senior County Footballers gear up for their Tailteann Cup final when they travel to Croke Park on Saturday, July 12, to take on Kildare.
The fixture details have been finalised for the cup final following the team’s incredible comeback win over Wicklow in the Semi-final, Jimmy Lee’s men will face Kildare on Saturday, July 12 with a 2:30 pm throw in, and the game will be televised on RTÉ and will also be shown on BBC.
It follows their success in Division Four National Football League earlier this year, winning that title in Croke Park back in March.
Limerick GAA announced that “Tailteann Cup fever” has been taking over the county in the past weeks as the Limerick Senior Football team builds up to its Tailteann Cup Final with Kildare this Saturday.
While in a second post they sent a message of support to the Treaty Manager, Jimmy Lee, saying, “Don’t worry Jimmy, we will be right behind you and your team for the Tailteann Cup Final.”
Some of the signs seen around the county are showing their support for the team and the parish players, with St Sennan’s sharing their efforts on Twitter, saying, “St. Senan’s GAA wishes James Naughton, Cormac Woulfe & all the Limerick team the very best in the Tailteann Cup final. Go n-éirí libh.”
Limerick City and County Council is also wishing the best of Luck to the Limerick Senior Footballers as they prepare to take to the hallowed turf at Croke Park this Saturday.
They will take on Kildare this Saturday (12 July) at 2.30pm, with the winners automatically qualifying for the group stage of the 2026 Senior All Ireland Football Championship.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran commented, “Manager Jimmy Lee, the players and all involved have met challenges head on and shown deep pride in representing their county this year. Whether cheering from the stands of Croke Park or flying the flags at home, I encourage the whole of Limerick to get behind them.”
Príomh Chomhairleoir of Limerick City and County Council, Cllr Catherine Slattery added, “What a journey it’s been for this group. They’ve lifted the spirits of the Treaty County, and we’re all behind them as they head to Croke Park. Best of luck to the boys in green and white.”
Director General of Limerick City and County Council, Dr Pat Daly said, “The pride these players have brought to the county is incredible. Let’s all get behind them this weekend—Luimneach Abú!”
Limerick supporters are encouraged to travel in numbers to Croke Park or show their support from home as Limerick line out against Kildare in what promises to be memorable occasion for Limerick football.
