With its on-going success and growth, Limerick founded GORM is proud to announce its latest talent development programme, The Close-Up – an extension of the Wideshot Programme. Led by Anne Roper, former RTÉ Executive Producer, the pilot programme is designed for intermediate level media makers in Ireland and expands GORM’s community initiatives.

Anne says, “It’s truly invigorating to be coordinating GORM’s ‘The Close-Up’ ‘next level’ media production course starting in May 2024! Such a wonderful opportunity for fresh voices and diverse talent to further develop visual story-telling skills under the expert teachings of award-winning makers of features, drama and documentary. Big thanks to Coimisiún na Meán for their support.”

Supported by Coimisiún na Meán (Sectoral Learning and Development Programme), GORM is on the lookout for 8 individuals, regardless of age, from diverse backgrounds with some production experience who are eager to elevate their visual storytelling abilities. The bootcamp offers 4 intensive weekends between May and October 2024, led by industry experts who have garnered various accolades for their work.

“I am so thrilled for the piloting of this initiative, diversity and inclusion is at the core of what we do in GORM, and we believe stories are a lens through which we can gain empathy with diverse communities, The Close-Up will equip 8 people from those communities with the skills to take their stories to screen and build larger audiences. Thank you to An Coimisiún na Meán for supporting such an initiative to equip the next generation of storytellers to take their stories from idea to screen,” says Mamobo Ogoro, CEO of GORM.

During the bootcamp, participants will delve into essential skills such as visual narrative techniques, self-shooting, mastering tech tools, camera operations, sound editing, and the art of crafting compelling pitches for commision. Furthermore, you’ll gain hands-on experience in project preparation, production, and delivery.

To apply, interested candidates must submit their interest through the participant form along with their showreels, CVs, and a short explanation on why they’re the perfect fit for The Close-Up. Successful applicants will be invited for a 15-minute online interview to gauge their eligibility for the programme.

GORM’s mission is to provide equal opportunities for all aspiring media-makers, and they encourage individuals from diverse ethnicities and cultural backgrounds to apply.  As a part of The Close-Up, you’ll embark on a transformative journey in media production that aims to celebrate unique voices and perspectives, so that we can unify across our differences.

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to hone your skills, make your mark in the world of media, and be one step closer to greenlighting that script you’ve been holding on to.
