The awards are designed to acknowledge the volunteering activities of young people and young people who have faced and overcome personal challenges in their lives who are living within the Limerick Garda Division.

Chief Superintendent Roche launched the Limerick Garda Divisional Youth Awards on Friday, October 22 at Centra Adare saying, “Limerick Gardaí are grateful to the Garvey group and appreciate the support for the last eight years. It is because of their support we can continue to have this successful event.”

The Gardaí in Limerick and Garveys recognise that young people in every community throughout the Limerick Garda Division are involved in many positive activities.

The awards not only acknowledge the positive volunteering work young people have done but also acknowledge young people who are involved in fundraising activities or raising awareness of certain issues.

Gardaí are looking for nominations of any young person or group of young people out there who are contributing to their local area in a positive manner. It could be through their activity and contribution to make their community a better place to live in.

Nominations are accepted from individuals, community and voluntary groups, schools and youth clubs, or other organisations. The Garda are requesting the people of Limerick to nominate a young person or a group of young people whom they feel has made a contribution to their local area.

Nomination forms can be obtained from the Garda website and will also be distributed to all second-level schools, youth clubs, and other services in Limerick.

If any person requires a nomination form please contact the Juvenile Liaison Office at Mayorstone Garda Station at 061 456986 or 085 8852588

It is hoped that a presentation ceremony will be held in the Woodlands House Hotel and Spa, Adare on Thursday, February 3, 2022.

The closing date for nominations is Monday, December 6.
