In all, there will be eight award winners this year with at least one winner from each of the four districts within the Limerick Garda Division.

Since the first Award ceremony in 2014, they have had 33 overall winners out of nearly 300 nominations. Every person nominated will receive a certificate of nomination while the overall winners will be presented with their awards at a gala dinner in the Woodlands House Hotel on Thursday, November 29, 2018.

Awards will be considered for nominated young people who by their presence, activity and contribution make their communities a better place to live in. As much information as possible should be supplied by nominators in respect of nominees and why you think they deserve an award. A co nominator is required for each nominee.

This year there is an added dimension to the awards in that the first National Garda Youth Awards will take place next April 2019 in the Garda College, Templemore, Co. Tipperary. It is hoped that local award winners will qualify for the national finals.

So anyone that knows a young person between the age of 13 and 21 years that is involved in any type of community activity or who is helping in a voluntary capacity, any person, a relation, a friend or an organization perhaps, can send in a nomination, or if you know some young person that has a performed some exceptional act, then please send a nomination.

Application forms are available from Garda stations within the division, from the Juvenile Liaison Office, Mayorstone Garda Station, Tel.  061 456986 or they can be downloaded from the garda.ie website.
