The Limerick Gift Card has officially surpassed a quarter of a million euros in sales, reaching an impressive €271,000, marking a significant milestone for the initiative and demonstrating strong community support for shopping local across Limerick city and county.

Launched to encourage ringfenced spending within the local economy, the Limerick Gift Card can be used in a wide range of participating retailers, hospitality venues, and service providers. The continued growth in sales reflects both consumer confidence and the collective effort of businesses and stakeholders working together to keep money circulating locally.

This milestone also serves as a reminder to participating retailers of the importance of actively marketing and promoting their involvement in the programme. Highlighting acceptance of the Limerick Gift Card—both in-store and online—helps drive footfall, increase visibility, and maximise the benefits of being part of this growing initiative.

Commenting on the achievement, Seán Golden of Limerick Chamber said, “Surpassing €271,000 in sales is a clear indication of the appetite for supporting local enterprise in Limerick. The Gift Card is a powerful tool for driving spend directly into our local economy, and we strongly encourage all participating businesses to promote their involvement and make the most of this opportunity.”

Brendan Troy from Limerick City and County Council added, “The success of the Limerick Gift Card highlights the positive impact of collaboration between local authorities, business organisations, and retailers. Every euro spent using the Gift Card stays in Limerick, supporting jobs and strengthening our communities. Continued promotion by retailers is key to ensuring the programme reaches its full potential.”

Retailers are encouraged to display Limerick Gift Card point-of-sale materials, promote acceptance on social media, and remind customers that they are proud participants in the programme. Increased visibility not only boosts individual businesses but also strengthens the overall impact of the initiative.

The Limerick Gift Card remains available for purchase online and at selected outlets, making it an ideal gift that supports local businesses while offering flexibility and choice to the recipient.
