Limerick Gospel Choir to Perform Live at RTÉ Mass on 2nd Nov 2014

As part of its contribution to Limerick City of Culture, RTÉ are featuring Limerick Gospel Choir and a congregation from St Michael’s Church, Denmark St in a live broadcast of Mass from the RTÉ studios Donnybrook.

Limerick Gospel Choir can be seen on RTÉ ONE TV at 11.00am on SUNDAY the 2nd of November on “The Feast of All Souls”.
The programme will also be featured on RTÉ Radio 1 xtra/LW252 DAB and it will be available worldwird on www.rte.ie/live.

The Limerick Gospel Choir in their distinctive blue robes and under their new Music Director, David Idioh will perform beautiful music for the occasion. The celebrant will be Father Leo McDonnel P.P. St Michael’s Church, Denmark St. The coordinator for the event and PRO of the choir is Ms Celine Ryan.

Limerick Gospel Choir are a mixed voice choir who love nothing more than to sing to their hearts content! There are approximately 35 members in the choir with their repertoire including a wide range of traditional gospel to contemporary classics while adding their own twist and style to some old classics as well as performing some up to date, modern favourites.

“There is a great sense of friendship and community spirit within our choir and it is this friendship and respect that helps us to bond together as a group with award winning results. We reached the semi-finals of RTE’s An Cor in 2010, participated at the Festival of Church Music for the last number of years and each year has seen a positive progression – 2009 received the Draiocht award – 2010 joint 2nd place in the Sacred Music – 2011 proud winner of the Best Limerick Choir, 2013 we won first place in the newly introduced Gospel Choir Category, and in 2014 we came second place in the Gospel Choir Category.”
