The event will be led by well-known Limerick hurling icon Ciarán Carey, who will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

Limerick Hurling fans are in for a treat on Friday, May 23, as the Maldron Hotel Limerick charity committee will host a special fundraising event with some of Limerick GAA’s Hurling Legends.

Taking place from 8:00 to 10:00 PM at St. Patrick’s GAA Clubhouse in Rhebogue, the evening promises excitement, entertainment, and heartfelt community spirit while raising much-needed funds for the Marie Keating Foundation.

The event will be led by well-known Limerick hurling icon Ciarán Carey, who will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Musical entertainment will be provided by acclaimed singer-songwriter Denis Allen, while a BBQ and raffle will keep attendees engaged and well-fed. A highlight of the night is the auction of a signed Limerick jersey, sure to attract keen interest from diehard fans.

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet and hear from several Limerick hurling legends, including Stephen McDonagh, Ger Hegarty, Joe Quaid, and Mike Houlihan, with additional surprise guests expected to be announced closer to the date.

All proceeds from the evening will support the vital work of the Marie Keating Foundation, a leading Irish cancer awareness and support organisation. Founded in 1998 by the Keating family in memory of their mother Marie, the foundation works to ensure that everyone in Ireland has access to trusted cancer information and early detection services. The charity also offers support to individuals and families affected by cancer, striving to make cancer less frightening by educating.

The organiser said, “The Charity Committee at Maldron Hotel Limerick is proud to support the Marie Keating Foundation, a charity that makes a real and lasting difference to so many lives affected by cancer across Ireland. From life-saving awareness campaigns to vital patient support services, every euro raised helps them continue their incredible work.

“We’ve been working closely with St Patrick’s GAA to put together a fantastic fundraising event on May 23rd, and it would honestly mean the world to us to see a great turnout. it’s going to be a great night –and it has been wonderful to get the support of local hurling legends, Denis Allen, and local business to bring it all together, all in support of a cause that truly matters.”

Tickets are priced at €10 and can be purchased online through Eventbrite for what promises to be a special and exciting night for hurling fans while supporting a charity close to many hearts.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online.
