The Limerick Jazz Festival 2018 is set to be the biggest yet. It is taking place from September 27 to 30 across the city. The festival is hosted by Limerick Jazz and is set to be an incredible weekend for the entire city.

Limerick Jazz Festival has been running since 2012 and has been a brilliant success every year since with fantastic line-ups from all around the world.

Limerick Jazz has been promoting music in the mid-west of Ireland for over 35 years. They run spring and autumn seasons which feature the best of live Irish and international contemporary Jazz. The last five years have seen regular visits from Jazz greats like Chris Potter; Thomasz Stanko; John Abercrombie; Manu Katche; Guy Barker and Soweto Kinch

The festival will be kicking off on Thursday, September 27 with a free music trail which will take place from South’s to the George Boutique Hotel and on to other venues.

The likes of Sheffield’s Hefty Renegade Brass, Jim Doherty’s Tenor Madness, Linley Hamilton Big Band with Strings and Paul Dunlea’s International Sextet are some of the acts to look out for playing in the Belltable and Dolan’s.

Linley Hamilton, Flugelhorn and Trumpet recently released a new album ‘Making Other Arrangements’, recorded in Ireland and they will be playing the Belltable on Friday, September 28 and will feature Dana Masters who used to be back up vocalist for Van Morrison in 2014.

Renegade Brass, a 12-piece band will be taking centre stage for the festival and will be playing in Dolan’s Warehouse on Saturday, 29 at 10:30 pm. They are a band of many genres incorporating funk, jazz, rap, hip-hop into their music.

Limerick has one of the most active Jazz scenes in Ireland. Limerick Jazz has been bringing outstanding Jazz performers to the city since the 1980s and the Limerick Jazz Workshop has been providing Jazz Education to the people of Limerick since 2007.

The Limerick Jazz Festival will be a weekend to remember in Limerick City and will boast jazz culture around the city for everyone to enjoy.
