Limerick model Judy Fitzgerald visited Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel and Spa in her Limerick colours for St. Patricks week to show love and support for the Little Blue Heroes supercar Bumblebee 1000 charity event. The VIP charity drive covered a two day road trip covering Kildare, Laois, Limerick and Kerry. In honour and memory of little blue hero Anthony Lannucci whose family were present to wave the starting flag and send all the cars on their way.

Little Blue Heroes Foundation is a not-for-profit charity operated entirely by volunteers (no paid staff) made up of Garda members/staff, retired Garda members, their families, friends and civic minded people from communities. It aims to help families in need from local communities in Ireland who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for serious illness.

According to the Foundation, “The name ‘Little Blue Heroes’ came about when we found that the vast amount of the children we support have a strong fascination with police uniform, equipment, vehicles, Garda units, etc. This has even led some of the children to make a wish to become an Honorary Garda and become part of the Garda family. As heroes to us with the battles they face, these children have become our Little Blue Heroes.”

The organisation provides financial aid to try and support their Little Blue Heroes while organising short breaks for families where possible and also hosting an annual ‘Yuel Fuel’ campaign at Christmas. Organisers also make regular visits to their Little Blue Heroes at hospital.

Limerick model Judy Fitzgerald is a force to be reckoned with, having earned a degree in nursing from UCC and a postgraduate degree in Midwifery and a degree in exercise and health fitness from UL. As well as becoming a nurse and fitness instructor, Judy is also a lifeguard.

Judy is a former Miss Bikini Ireland and she is Ireland’s European fitness model champion. In 2019, she was encouraged to enter the Irish European Fitness Model Championships by her coach and former Mr. Ireland bodybuilding champion James “Blue” Shinners, who passed away unexpectedly shortly before the championships. To honour him, she wore a blue bikini.  Judy had a record-breaking day at the Championships in Dublin and walked away with four European titles, coming first in all of the categories that she entered. This was Judy’s first time entering the championships. She represented Ireland on the European stage last November and will represent Ireland on the world stage this August in Las Vegas at world beauty fitness and fashion WBFF world championships.

Judy commented, “I hope you all donate to such a deserving charity that means so much to so many people. Wishing you all a Happy St.Patricks Day!”
