Limerick musicians join together for a 2025 Christmas Medley in support of Thomond House
For 2025, a group of musicians based in Limerick have come together with A Christmas Medley in support of Thomond House

For the second year in a row, a group of musicians based in Limerick have come together at Christmas time to use music as a way of supporting others in need. Alicia Rogal, Mathew Pellicano, Ollie Phillips, Áine Hennessy, Janey Maher Langan and Anna Banko Szumacher recently collaborated on a new Christmas medley, created not only to celebrate the festive season, but to support and raise awareness for one of the city’s most vital local charities — Thomond House.
The group is no stranger to using music for social good. Last year, they recorded a different Christmas song in support of another charitable foundation, and the experience left a lasting impression. Building on that momentum, they decided to continue the tradition this year, once again using their voices and creativity to give something back to the community that brought them together.
What makes this collaboration particularly special is the diversity behind it. The group comes from completely different countries, cultures and musical backgrounds. Some are rooted in Ireland, while others have made Limerick their home more recently. Despite these differences, music has become a shared language — one that allows them to connect, collaborate and support causes that matter.
The Christmas medley, lovingly produced by Mathew, brings together a selection of familiar seasonal songs centred around themes of warmth, hope and togetherness. What began as a creative idea quickly grew into a meaningful project, especially as the group reflected on the realities faced by people experiencing homelessness in Limerick during the winter months.
Thomond House is a small but essential organisation providing emergency accommodation, housing and long-term support services for individuals and families without a home. Their work focuses not only on providing shelter, but on restoring dignity, stability and hope. While much of what they do happens quietly and without fanfare, their presence is a lifeline for many people in the city.
Speaking about the project, Anna explained why supporting Thomond House felt particularly important this year:
“We all come from different places and backgrounds, but Limerick is what connects us now. Christmas can be joyful for many people, but it can also highlight how difficult life is for others. We wanted to use music to help shine a light on that and to support the incredible work Thomond House does every day.”
Christmas can be one of the hardest times of year for people facing homelessness. While homes are filled with warmth, food and celebration, others experience isolation and uncertainty. Thomond House continues to support people throughout the festive season, offering care, compassion and stability when it is needed most.
The medley reflects these same values. Every note was recorded with intention and care, carrying a message that kindness, solidarity and community matter. The group hopes that by sharing the recording widely, they can help amplify awareness of Thomond House and encourage others to support local organisations doing vital work.
