Security in Shredding is a local company that specializes in the certification of secure data destruction, providing confidential paper shredding services, hard-drive destruction services and sensitive material destruction services throughout Ireland.

Data Protection experts will also be on hand on the day. They will assist attendees with their data protection and waste management queries. They will also provide the best practice guidance for SME’s and householders. This is especially important when left with the responsibility to securely destroy end of life data.

Householders and SME’s are encouraged to bring a maximum of two bin bags of confidential paper material. Confidential material can include personal information, bills, customer records, insurance records and income statements. All are to be shredded on site on the day of the Limerick paper shredding event.

Sinead McDonnell, Environmental Awareness Officer with Limerick City and County Council said: “This event run jointly by Limerick City and County Council and Security in Shredding is an ideal opportunity to dispose of highly personal and confidential information in a proper manner.”

“The purpose of this event is twofold – firstly, it will create awareness of Data Protection and enable attendees who may not have facilities or funds for such a service to ensure secure destruction of their data. Secondly, waste brought to Mungret Recycling Centre will improve the waste recycling figures for the region and consequently reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.”

Albert Kelly, General Manager of Security in Shredding said: “This event with Limerick City and County Council gives us the opportunity to provide assistance and education to local communities. The introduction of the GDPR in May of this year means that compliance has become essential. This is due to the significant fines for non-compliance. This means that all members of the community are to be aware of the risks when dealing with personal data. Not only risk identification but advice as to how to protect their individual personal identity and, their businesses future.”

This event in Mungret will allow SMEs to be confident that they are following the letter of law when it comes to the destruction of confidential material.

Limerick Chamber is also actively supporting this event.
