The book launch of “Limerick People” happened at St Enda’s Community School’s JCSP Library. “Limerick People” is the result of an outreach project organised by St Edna’s Community School’s librarian, Jane Bingham-Shee, with the aim of encouraging students to improve their writing skills and also to learn about some of Limerick’s most interesting and inspirational characters from history and the present day. The book contains 14 stories written by JCSP students from Desmond College, Coláiste na Trócaire, St Nessan’s Community School, Ardscoil Mhuire and St Enda’s Community School. The book also contains delightful illustrations by Hugh McMahon, a local Limerick artist. Celia Holman Lee who is featured in the book was delighted to attend the launch and congratulated the students on their wonderful book. The book contains stories about Paul O’Connell, Dolores O’Riordan, Bill Whelan, Richard Harris, Willie “Big Bang” Casey, John Breen, Darren Shan, Michael D Higgins, Éamon De Valera, Lola Montez, Lady Mary Heath, Michael ‘Mick’ Mackey and JP McManus. The book is not currently available to purchase but can be accessed at your local library and if there is enough interest in the book, it will go on sale in the near future. For more information about the book, contact Jane Bingham-Shee at St Enda’s Community School, Phone: 061 419222.
