On August 4, 2025, Limerick blossomed into a living canvas during the inaugural Limerick Plein Air Festival.

Artists from across Ireland gathered for this vibrant celebration of open-air painting, turning the city’s streets and quays into a dynamic outdoor studio.

Founded and passionately organised by local artist Karina Guseva, the festival invited painters of all levels to capture Limerick’s soul en plein air—immersed in the city’s unique light, architecture, and energy. From the lively pedestrian buzz of Bedford Row to the serene reflections along Harvey’s Quay, every corner offered inspiration.

The day’s magic unfolded with more than 50 fresh artworks created in just one Monday, each celebrating Limerick’s beauty; artists from all over Ireland sharing techniques, stories, and a love for painting outdoors; and passersby becoming part of the creative process—watching, chatting, and even taking home original pieces.

As the sun set, the festival culminated in a pop-up exhibition on Bedford Row, where the public admired the day’s creations. Many works sold, proving that art born in the moment carries a special spark.

Karina Guseva, festival organiser, shared her awe, “I’m still amazed—in just one Monday, our artists gave life to over 50 stunning works, each a love letter to Limerick. Seeing our city’s charm immortalised on so many canvases was magical..”

With overwhelming enthusiasm from artists and visitors alike, plans for Limerick Plein Air Festival 2026 are already underway—promising even more creativity, connection, and celebration of Ireland’s vibrant art community.
