Discussed in the opening episode of I Love Limerick’s Podcast show, were the recent events that the I Love Limerick crew attended last week, such as the announcement of additional players for the JP McManus Pro-Am 2020 and Limerick city crowns its new Mr and Ms Gay Limerick in Cobblestone Joes on Sunday, July 7

Also discussed were other news stories in Limerick, such as the launch for the annual Miss Limerick and Miss Clare 2019 pageants which took place on Wednesday, July 3 and the launch of the Ballyhoura Trails Guide App, which will allow users to navigate the Ballyhoura Country and keep up to date on everything Ballyhoura related.

Upcoming events taking place next week were also spoken about, such as Limerick is set to celebrate Bastille Day 2019 on Sunday, July 14 at King John’s Castle and the Pig n Porter Festival 2019 will begin on Friday, July 12, with live music and registration for teams, and the matches will then take place on Saturday, July 13.

The Miss Limerick pageant has acted as one of the main events of the summer social calendar for over three decades and this year, for the first time, the show will have a new creative team running the competition. This year also marks the return of the Miss Clare competition for the first time in three years, with the winner also going forward straight to the Miss Ireland Final. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
