Former Samaritan, Linda Louise Galvin set to be one of six poets featured in “Sextet Revival” poetry book to be released this autumn.

The book, initially released six years ago by the Limerick Writers Centre, is set to release its second edition. The book is a compilation of poetry from the six best chosen poets in Limerick City and County showing their diverse range of writing styles and techniques.

The 21 year old Corbally native first took an interest in writing about five years ago when she began writing songs on the guitar. After an attack in 2014, writing began a major part in her life and better things were to come.

“I needed something to get me through it so I started writing full time, reading dictionaries learning words every night”, explains Linda Louise. Limerick Poet Linda Louise Galvin

Limerick Poet Linda Louise Galvin continues to explain how she “started preforming for Stanzas and started to grow a small fan base”.

She then branched out to preforming at The White House Pub and “On the Nail” in The Buttery as her fan base rightfully progressed and she began known as the “girl with the hat” due to her wide brim fedora hat trademark.

Linda Louise’s talent has not been unnoticed as a script she has written for E4 has been picked up and is in the stages of discussion, something which could potentially transform Linda’s life.

As for now, Linda Louise is currently travelling across America on a “writing holiday” making a name for herself in the art/poetry scene in America performing and regularly updating her blog.

“I can only write best at night and I’ve never travelled like this before so I feel it will be a great experience for writing material. Especially seeing the states in the early hours of the morning with the sunrise, the air just seems different at that time’’, explains Linda Louise.

She continues to say how she’s “like an ant in the big world of being a literary figure here”.

Linda Louise plans to become a full time writer in the future as she says “writing has given me a purpose”. She is hoping to release her very own poetry book and donate the proceeds to the Samaritans or Pieta House.

On top of all this, Linda Louise is heavily involved in mental health awareness work such as interviews and short films, something she intends to keep doing in the future.

She is definitely one to watch for the future, a remarkable and talented individual that Limerick is proud to call their own.
